I grew up in Morgan Hill CA, and my father Todd Purdy introduced me to sprint car racing at the San Jose Fair Grounds at a young age. When I reached the age of 10 I was able to race quarter midgets and we were very successful and won quite a few shows in California. After growing out of quarter midgets I took a break from racing until I got my drivers license and started to dabble in drag racing. We moved to Reno NV in 2007 and I began my career at summit racing equipment in Sparks NV. I worked there for a total of 7 years and I continued drag racing until the beginning of 2020 when I decided to chase my dream of being a sprint car driver. It’s been a long uphill battle and we’ve slowly formed relationships with fellow racers and tracks in our area and has now become the Sierra Nevada sprint car series where we’re able to race close to home.

Background:

At 37 years young I come before you to share my story, I started my racing career in the late 90’s when I, along with my three brothers, as well as dad, all established a passion for racing motorcycles. We were all instantly hooked and the passion for riding and racing was born. Fast forward a few years to 2007 with a list of broken bones and that season had come to an end as life’s responsibilities led me in a different direction. Moving ahead to the more current history of 2021 when I reignited this passion for racing in the form of 4 wheels instead of two this time around. This was fed through an endurance style demolish derby at our local track here at Mtn. Home Speedway that quickly progressed into less mud, demolition and a lot more speed as the track grew.

My first step into racing cars was nowhere near a 360 winged sprint as that was a someday dream yet to be realized as I raced my Honda Accord in the Hornet class. After the first races it was time to get a faster car, and then yet another faster car, and so on as the next year I progressed into running the hornet car, a bomber, and a hobby stock. The year after that I decided to give up the hornets and moved into the modifieds and Micro sprints before finding the 360 winged sprints while still running a micro sprint, a modified and the 360 winged sprints that brings us to today. Now that I am in the 360 sprints I have opted to conclude my season in the micro sprints as my energy is focused on the 360 sprints and the modifieds.

Being passionate about the racing I am working hard with all the people involved with our local track to continue to grow the sport while focusing on the 360 winged sprints as well as the box stocks as they are our up and coming sprint car drivers. This has become a family event as I have passed on these cars that I have progressed out of to family members that have started into racing. Mom is out there racing the same track as my daughter in the hornet class while my brother and dad are out there racing in the bomber and hobby stock classes, along with cousins racing each other in the box stock carts. This is a pretty amazing feeling to have the whole family out enjoying this sport as it has taken a full circle now that we are back on the track together after 20 years, all be it with four wheels and a lot less broken bones this time.

I am excited to share my passion with those around me as we grow the sport and our local track while also traveling to the tracks around us to further expand the sport along with the racing family that comes with it. Whether it is throwing a single sprint on a trailer to make a solo trip down into California or loading up the trailers along with the family heading down into Elko, NV for a fun weekend filled with great people and an abundance of memories being made while I and those around me pursue this passion we call racing.

Have fun, go fast, keep the rubber side down!
Keep it real and don’t do anything I wouldn’t!

Years of racing experience: 10

Pit Crew: My better half, Skyler and team mascot Jackson

Sponsors: Mamas Meat shop in Fallon Nevada

Background:

I got started in the Ministocks, and moved into the outlaw karts around 2018. Running with the Red Bluff Outlaws in the winter when I could, and have gotten the opportunities to drive for great people in just about every local class we have in the summer. If there’s a steering wheel to hold, and the car is safe, I’ll strap into anything. This will be my first year driving a sprint car full time.
